Textual Analysis

Camera Angles
Camera Angles uses are mid shots and high angle shots. A lot of the angles are showing the upper body, then there's low angle shots looking up at the person from the ground. During the opening credits, there are high, angle shots and low angle shots shown. In the opening credits no faces are shown.

Lighting
There isn't much natural light is used. The lighting is artificial throughout most of the opening of Seven, except when the detectives are outside, where it is natural and slightly bright light. The colours used are mainly blacks, browns and grey, so dull, grim lifeless colours. The dull lighting creates the feeling of the thriller, making it tense.

Sound
The sound used is dramatic, when there is music. The music starts when the opening credits come up, the music that is played is techno and scratchy. When the detectives outside you can hear the train and sirens in the distance. Car alarms and horns can also be heard in the distance. As the detective is laying in bed and you can hear shouting in the hallway and the clock ticking in his room getting louder.

Camera Angles
The camera angles used for the opening for this film are mid shots, close angle shots and far shots. Wide angle shots are used to show that Si the character in the film is in a police interview room, to show the whole area that is being filmed.

Lighting
The lighting is dark then switches to a bright white room where a camera is ready to take a picture.

Sound
The sound for the beginning of the opening scene is like heartbeat of a ticking clock. Then it goes onto a flash, the noise that’s made by a camera. Its goes quiet then and is the sound of conversation.

Identity (0.00 - 4.13 Minutes)

Camera Angles
The camera angles used in the opening sequence to Identity are high angles, you see the documents and the detectives hand, but then later on you see his face while he is listening to the recorded conversation. Close up shots are done on the drawings, (the evidence) from when the man was a boy. The way the opening credits are done in the form of type writing.

Lighting
The lighting in the opening sequence of the film is quite natural, but also fuzzy at the same time like it's been recorded and something is wrong with the film.

Sound
The sound in the opening is mostly conversation. The music in the films is light but spooky at the same time. There is thunder and lightning in the background.
